DragonFly

I saw a dragonfly today that was one of the biggest if not THE biggest that I have ever seen. It was emerald green, and had at least a 5-in wingspan. This guy was BIG. Now, don't correct me if I am wrong, but I think that the bigger they are the longer they have lived, so this guy was a veteran of the Dragonflies. He had stories of war with the mosquitos, of battles won and lost, and of the places he had been and seen that to us, would have been a completely different world had we been larvae listening to his stories. I don't know why it struck me so, but I saw it and suddenly wanted to write about him. I wanted to share his history, to divulge into his background, to expound upon his glorious triumphs. But I don't know him. I merely saw him for a moment, battleship of an insect as he was, and brushed his wing to see if he was alive, but then left. But I wonder about him. Isn't it interesting how one such encounter can leave such an impression? I will probably forget all about him by tomorrow or the day after, but still, even for the briefest of moments it feels good to think about him as a creature that has memory and thought, that has scars unnumbered yet has lived to tell the tale. Bravo good sir, may you live to fight and eat another day!

In other news, I saw a women driving her car shortly after who reminded me of Uma Thurman, so go figure...
